Courrèges x Denim Project
This project, created during my time at the Royal College of Art, explored the unique aesthetic and design language of the French fashion brand Courrèges. Renowned for its futuristic, forward-thinking vision, Courrèges blends geometric shapes, bold outlines, and a playful yet innovative spirit. These characteristics formed the foundation of my analysis and interpretation of the brand.
Taking inspiration from Courrèges' signature design elements, I reimagined them through the lens of a "playground"—a space that encapsulates bold geometry, vibrant colors, and a sense of playfulness. The collection features geometric reinterpretations of playground structures and integrates dynamic shapes, colors, and textures to resonate the joy and energy of these spaces.
The project resulted in two distinct collections for the F/W resort season. The first, a conceptual and artistic approach, emphasized avant-garde, unconventional silhouettes of footwear. The second, a ready-to-wear collection, developed as a more wearable and functional iteration while seamlessly blending Courrèges' signature futuristic aesthetic.
Both collections embody the brand's daring and fashion-forward ethos while reflecting my own aesthetic sensibilities, merging creativity with wearability in a celebration of bold outlines, playful geometry, and futuristic design.
