No Matter Which (2015)
The No Matter Which collection draws inspiration from the face, a familiar yet profound element of daily life, to celebrate individuality and diversity. The project conveys a message of inclusion, asking: What color do you belong to? White, yellow, black—or perhaps red, green, blue, or pink. By reimagining the face as a dynamic landscape, the collection emphasizes the fluidity of identity, showing that we belong to multiple colors and no single identity defines the full essence of who we are.
Design details were inspired by mountain ridges and contour maps, mirroring the side profiles of human faces. This concept materialized through layered, accordion-style structures that shift and move as the wearer walks, reflecting the fluidity of both natural terrain and human expression. See-through materials allowed the shoes to take on different colors and shapes depending on the wearer, symbolizing individuality and diversity. Playful details inspired by facial elements added a sense of joy and discovery.
Developed in just two weeks as part of my Royal College of Art admission interview, this project followed my successful document screening and portfolio review. Its playful and innovative approach secured my admission, showcasing my ability to conceptualize, design, and execute under tight deadlines while delivering a meaningful narrative.
